Shadows over Normandie is our licensed boardgame based on Modiphius' terrifying Achtung! Cthulhu universe being produced by Devil Pig Games. It is a squad/platoon sized tactical game using the Heroes System and is fully compatible with the Heroes of Normandie boardgame.
The game features three opposing armies controlled by the players. These forces include the German Cult of the Black Sun, the ancient Deep Ones and the US Rangers led by our heroes Ariane and Sgt. Carter. Check out the awesome Kickstarter video featuring the first Achtung! Cthulhu live action. Watch out for the Servitor Overlord of Nyarlathotep!
Initially an expansion for Heroes of Normandie, Shadows over Normandie has been expanded to a full standalone game and Devil Pig Games used Kickstarter to add yet more value to the box set for all backers.
A few weeks after D-Day, a US Ranger Company, lost in Normandie, has to confront the terrifying power of the Nazis cult of the Black Sun. allied with an ancient Deep Ones tribe, they’re preparing a dark ceremony to summon the great Cthulhu. The Lost Battalion is the first chapter of a great campaign that will be told through the scenarios.
Each scenario becomes increasingly difficult, and are designed as tutorials to teach you the game mechanics. Each brings a new tactical challenge. Objectives lead players to make tactical choices, some will be successful, others… well, they won’t! Soldiers will fight, while heroes or villains will also have specific tasks to fulfill. It’s a bridge between a wargame and an adventure game.

Playing The Game
Each force is made up of infantry, tanks or creatures and of course, heroes and villains. Each unit has its own set of unique characteristics and skills depicted on the high quality chunky tokens.
Each turn is divided in three phases.
The second phase is all about the action.
Shadows over Normandie is not one of those old fashioned games where you sit, waiting for the other guy to finish his move and fire actions. In Shadows over Normandie, players activate units alternatively. This gives the game its heroic feeling. It's fun, fast and… bloody.
The first phase is about giving hidden orders to your units.
Numbered blocks allow the players to secretly choose in which order their units will act to surprise the enemy!
The third phase is the Reserve phase.
All units that were not given orders are allowed to move. No unit will be left untouched, although these units do not get to fire.
The Cthulhu Pledge in the Shadows over Normandie Kickstarter gets you the full standalone game PLUS all the Stretchgoals PLUS the Dagon Pledge expansion include some cool coastal tiles and extras.
