Modiphius launches Dark Eden source book for Mutant Chronicles

20/12/2016

London 20 Dec 2016 - Modiphius Entertainment is pleased to announce the release of Dark Eden, a brand new source book which explores the fate of earth, the long-abandoned home world of its acclaimed Mutant Chronicles sci-fi diesel-punk universe

The Dark Eden Source Book is now available in PDF on Modiphius.net and DriveThruRPG.com

The Sins of the Past

The Megacorporations created their own version of hell for the remnants of humanity left behind during the Exodus. Clouds of toxins seethed through the atmosphere. Nuclear fires seared the earth. The very ground shook in torment and anger.

Earth was abandoned by the best and brightest of the Megacorporations during their race across the Solar System. Humanity’s cradle had been abandoned and forgotten by all but a few.

For Old Earth was gone, or so the Megacorporations believed. Below the toxic clouds and amongst the ruins of civilisation, life somehow prevailed in the face of the mutagens, toxins, and terraforming agents that surged across the planet’s surface. Changed. Mutated. Born of a fiery genesis. Old Earth had become Dark Eden. This source book covers Dark Eden, the world once known as Earth. Designed to be used on its own, it will also perfectly supplement the Dark Eden Campaign.

• The Megabody Campaign: A globe spanning search for a secret that threatens the very existence of Luna City.

• The Survivors: The tribes of Dark Eden. A detailed background of twisted descendants of humanity: the
Crescentians, Lutheran Triad, Sons of Rasputin, Templars, and others.

• New World, New Dangers: Details of Dark Eden’s lethal fauna and flora, from the colossal Eclipsian War Mammoths to the deadly Silver Pools.

• A Changed World: Comprehensive information on the various locations in the world of Dark Eden, plus story hooks for adventures.

Look out for more releases from the Mutant Chronicles universe coming soon. For the latest information visit the Mutant Chronicles page on Modiphius.com or join the community on the dedicated Mutant Chronicles Facebook page.

LONDON 9 December 2016 - Modiphius is pleased to announce the release of the Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish Core Rule Book, the core rule set you need to play our Achtung! Cthulhu miniatures wargame.

The Achtung! Cthulhu Core Rule Book is available in Print (with free PDF), and PDF only from  Modiphius.net priced at £14.99 and £8.99 respectively.

Set around the events of ‘the Secret War’ Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish introduces players to the terrifying conflict fought to stop the sorcerous Nazi cult of the Black Sun from unleashing a tide of Mythos horrors against the Allies. Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish: Rise of the Black Sun is the title of the first wave of releases during 2016 which will complete a whole story arc set around the first battles fought by the secretive Allied forces Section M, set up by the British to combat the Mythos threat and their US counterparts Majestic.

Arrayed against them are the powerful forces of Exarch Weissler’s Black Sun, who as well as conventional troops and weapons can bring devastating magical power to the battlefield, summon ancient and terrible creatures like the Servitors of Nyarlathotep, as well as powerful allies such as the Deep Ones and Mi-Go.

Take command of brave Allied forces like Badger’s Commandos and the Pathfinder Demon Hunters alongside historical army units, and lead them to victory against the Axis hordes. Deploy special hero units like Sgt Brandon Carter, Professor Richard Deadman or Ariane Dubois to take on the might of the Nazi war machine.

As the Axis, strike terror into your opponents by commanding the sorcerous Black Sun and their Mythos allies, bringing new levels of fear onto the battlefield. Call on the terrifying Deep One War Party or let the unholy Servitors of Nyarlathotep supplement your forces and crush the Allied threat.

Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish is powered by Spartan Games’ Dystopian Legions 2.0 rules set (re-written by Matthew Hope (Relic Knights, AE-WWII, Wrath of Kings, Sedition Wars) Nick Fallon and John Houlihan.

The game allows for fast playing battles from small skirmishes up to full scale conflicts. Modiphius has added new rules for Mythos powers, creatures, artefacts and spells to allow players to experience the full flavour and terror of the Achtung! Cthulhu universe with their heroes and troops. The range is designed to work alongside other popular 28mm miniature lines.

Achtung! Cthulhu Skirmish Rules Feature:

  • A fast paced wargame rule set combining World War Two and the Cthulhu Mythos.
  • Uses the highly successful Dystopian Legions by Spartan Games for a fun but challenging tactical experience.
  • Based on the award-winning Achtung! Cthulhu roleplaying game setting by Modiphius Entertainment with
  • A major cast of heroes and villains, secret organisations, terrifying horrors and ancient artefacts.
  • Track the growing influence of the Mythos over the battlefield. As the Mythos Influence Level rises, strange and terrible things begin to happen to those involved in the conflict.
  • New Tactical Action Cards and ‘Model Assigned Rules’— MARs that capture the feel and flavour of the Achtung! Cthulhu settings.
  • Introducing rules for Mythos powers, spells and artefacts.
  • Stats for Achtung! Cthulhu forces as well as normal historical infantry, support weapons, vehicles and tanks.
  • Players from both sides can bring powerful spellcasters to bear—weaving spells across the battlefield to ensure victory over their enemy.
  • Written and converted by Matthew Hope (Relic Knights, AE-WWII, Wrath of Kings, Sedition Wars), with narrative design by Achtung! Cthulhu's John Houlihan.
  • Fully compatible with the existing Achtung! Cthulhu miniatures range. For more information on the range, see http://www.modiphius.net/collections/miniatures-1

  • All purchases come with free download of Secret War Operations - free tutorial missions for both for both US and Black Sun operatives plus our massive Forest of Fear background storyline
  • Narrative base campaigns and expansion sets throughout the year will expand and enhance your adventures!

The living campaign begins with playtest missions and will continue with the release of the core rulebook in the summer of 2017. The living campaign takes place in the Shackleton Expanse, an area of space vastly unexplored by both the Federation and the Klingons. Starbase 364, Narendra Station, named after the battle of Narendra III where the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-C was destroyed, serves as the keep on the borderlands for excursions out into the frontier of space.

As the crews of the U.S.S. Venture, U.S.S. Bellerophon, U.S.S. Thunderchild, explore strange anomalies and discover new life while uncovering an ancient civilization and mysterious technologies, those aboard the U.S.S. Lexington will shape historical events for those very ships.

Assignments are still open for Captains and Officers to take their place aboard the bridge and make Star Trek gaming history. Further, local game shops organizing an in-store playtest group will receive starbase status with pre-order promotions for the game’s retail release. Fans attending Dragonmeet in London on Saturday will have the final chance to receive a free Captain Kirk or Captain Picard figure when they sign up for the Star Trek Adventures playtest.

Star Trek Adventures will use the Modiphius 2d20 game system (Mutant Chronicles, Infinity, Conan, John Carter of Mars) designed by Jay Little (Star Wars: Edge of the Empire, X-Wing Miniatures Game). Modiphius is also sculpting an accompanying Star Trek miniature figure line, the first to be produced in 17 years. Resin 32mm-heroic scale hobby figures will feature classic Star Trek characters and crews, boarding parties and away teams. Geomorphic tile maps of burning Federation ships, mysterious colonies and embattled Klingon cruisers will set the scene for dramatic new voyages in the Final Frontier.

Under license by CBS Consumer Products, Star Trek Adventures is slated for a Summer 2017 release and the playtest crews will be listed in the Star Trek Adventures book manifest.
