Robert E. Howards Conan
In 1932 Robert E. Howard created CONAN, the greatest character in pulp adventure, changing fantasy fiction forever.
The first Conan story was “The Phoenix on the Sword”, and in it he leapt to savage life. Many stories followed quickly after, mere glimpses into a saga like no other hero had lived. Barbarian and thief, pirate and brigand, mercenary and scout... Conan was all of these things.
He crossed the whole of his world, saw the distant kingdoms to the east and to the south, fought monsters, slew countless foes, braved unimaginable danger, and encountered strange and terrible magic beyond sanity.
Eventually... he became a KING.
Robert E. Howard's Conan Roleplaying Game: Adventures In An Age Undreamed Of is a brand new roleplaying game based on this incredible character and world. The team includes industry veterans as well as newcomers, with acclaimed Conan artists such as Brom, Tim Truman, Estaban Maroto, Mark Schultz, Tomas Giorello, Sanjulian, and others...
...all under the watchful eye of world-renowned Conan experts and scholars, working together to bring you the most authentic Conan roleplaying experience yet, focusing exclusively on Robert E. Howard’s original stories.
Featuring Modiphius’ 2d20 game system, also seen in the Mutant Chronicles, Infinity, and John Carter RPGs, the Conan core rulebook will contain everything you need to play original characters in the Hyborian Age.
Subsequent books will describe the world in additional detail, presenting different styles of play from the phases of Conan’s saga... Thief, Barbarian, Mercenary, Pirate, the Unknown East, Brigand, Kingdoms of the South, Scout... and King.
Other books will explore sorcery, monsters and demons, nameless cults, secret societies and fighting orders, distant lands, ancient ruins, and lost cities. The game line will be supported with a wide range of ready-to-play adventures and campaigns spanning the breadth of Conan’s world.

Modiphius is proud to announce a licensing deal with Conan Properties to publish Robert E. Howard’s Conan: Adventures In An Age Undreamed Of. This is CONAN roleplaying as Robert E. Howard wrote it – savage pulp adventure battling ancient horrors in the Hyborian Age! We plan to bring the game right back to its roots, focusing on the original stories by Robert E. Howard.
Modiphius has scored a leading team of Hyborian Age scribes to chronicle these adventures including Timothy Brown (designer of the Dark Sun setting for Dungeons & Dragons), award-winning Robert E. Howard scholar and essayist Jeffrey Shanks (Conan Meets the Academy, REH: Two-Gun Raconteur, Critical Insights: Pulp Fiction, The Dark Man: The Journal of REH Studies, Zombies from the Pulps!), Jason Durall (Basic Roleplaying, Serenity, The Laundry), Mark Finn (Blood and Thunder: The Life and Art of Robert E. Howard, The Barbaric Triumph, The Dark Man: The Journal of REH Studies), Vincent Darlage (Conan d20, Member of the Robert E. Howard United Press Association), Kevin Ross (writer, editor, and contributor to Cthulhu by Gaslight, Dead Reckonings, Escape from Innsmouth, H.P. Lovecraft’s Kingsport, Dwellers in Shadow, New Tales of the Miskatonic Valley, Call of Cthulhu Investigator’s Companion, The Dreaming Stone, and more), Chris Lites (Paizo, Savage Worlds, Omni, Slate), Lou Agresta (editor, developer, and designer of Razor Coast and Heart of the Razor), Scott Oden (best-selling author of Men of Bronze, Memnon, and The Lion of Cairo) and many more to be announced. Sally Christensen (Cortex Hackers Guide, Firefly RPG, Leverage Companions, Marvel Heroic) steps up as Line Editor to keep the rabble writing proper.
Players and GM’s alike will feel the might of the 2d20 game system, the cinematic roleplaying rules devised by Jay Little (Star Wars: Edge of the Empire) for Mutant Chronicles, and sharpened up for intense sword and sorcery action. The 2d20 system lets players experience the true pulp adventure of the Conan stories.
Howard expert Jeffrey Shanks will approve all content, ensuring it remains true to the spirit of the source material and brings the Hyborian Age to life. An incredible line up of world-famous Conan artists have been brought together with Brom (Dark Sun, Magic: The Gathering, Alternity, Forgotten Realms, Planescape, Deadlands) leading the pack, followed by Sanjulian (Conan Ace Paperbacks, Vampirella, Eerie, Creepy), Carl Critchlow (Batman/Judge Dredd, Anderson: Psi Division), Mark Schultz (The Coming of Conan, Xenozoic Tales, Prince Valiant), Tim Truman (Dark Horse Conan, Grimjack, Jonah Hex), Phroilan Gardner (Age of Conan, World of Warcraft), Alex Horley (Blizzard, Heavy Metal, Magic: The Gathering) plus Dark Horse regular Tomas Giorello (Conan The Cimmerian, King Conan, 2013 Robert E. Howard Foundation Award for Artistic Achievement), legendary Conan and Red Sonja artist Esteban Maroto (Conan Ace paperback illustrations, Savage Sword of Conan, Red Sonja, Eerie, Creepy and Vampirella) along with the spectacular Tom Grindberg, who is currently illustrating the Tarzan Sunday comic strip alongside Roy Thomas (Conan, Savage Sword of Conan, Conan Saga, Judge Dredd, ERB's Back to the Stone Age); and Jose Villarrubia, one of the top colorists in the business (various Dark Horse Conan titles including the award-winning King Conan, Alan Moore's Promethea, Dynamite's Red Sonja, and many more).
Modiphius is working with other Conan Properties licensing partners including Monolith Board Games, creator of the hit CONAN boardgame which has surpassed $2 million on Kickstarter, and Funcom, creator of the long-running, free-to-play, MMO Age of Conan, as well as Pulposaurus and their CROM miniatures game. Modiphius plans some select supplements including missions designed to tie in with those games, as well as floor plan tile sets allowing you to use Conan miniatures in your roleplaying adventures!
Modiphius is already working on the roleplaying corebook for Robert E. Howard’s Conan: Adventures In An Age Undreamed Of to be released this Summer. A Kickstarter is planned for Jan/Feb 2016 to fund a larger range of roleplaying supplements, campaigns, and accessories to follow the core book.

Jeff Shanks, award-winning Robert E. Howard scholar and essayist (Conan Meets the Academy, REH: Two-Gun Raconteur, Critical Insights: Pulp Fiction, The Dark Man: The Journal of REH Studies, Zombies from the Pulps!) has been hard at work guiding the Modiphius team for the last year.
“As a life-long fan of Robert E. Howard's Conan stories, as well as an avid gamer, I cannot begin to describe how excited I am to see this project nearing completion. The dedicated and inspired writers and artists that I've been working with over the last year have been pouring their lifeblood into this game to make it something truly special. Howard's original tales of Conan the Cimmerian leap off their pulpwood pages, teeth bared, sword in hand, to grab the reader by the throat and drag them along on a whirlwind adventure of blood and steel, savagery and sorcery. This game captures that essence like no other Conan product has in the 80 years since Howard's death and I am proud to be a part of it.
Over the last year I have worked closely with the talented creators on this project to make sure that this game remains true to Howard's vision of the Hyborian Age -- an age undreamed of -- and I believe that the final product will show that to be case. I have been honored to work together with such legendary artists as Brom, Sanjulian, Mark Schultz, Tim Truman, Tomas Giorello, Esteban Maroto, Alex Horley, and many others to bring the world of Conan to life and I'm so excited that the fans will finally get to see some of their spectacular work. And finally I would like to thank Modiphius for having the courage to make this game the way it need to be made -- respectful of the source material and true to the core of what makes Howard's Conan the Cimmerian one of the great archetypes of fantasy adventure.”

Know, oh prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars — Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.
